It might seem that how to wash your hair isn’t rocket science. It turns out that the issue is more complex than it seems. Proper care significantly affects the condition of our hair, but also the condition of our scalp, which is extremely sensitive. The condition of the scalp is especially affected by the quality of cosmetics used and the frequency of washing, which is why maintaining its proper and healthy condition is so important. And although washing hair is an activity that some people do even daily, it turns out that we often do it wrong. The most common mistakes made when washing hair are:

  • too much product,
  • scrubbing too hard,
  • too hot water,
  • incorrectly selected care products,
  • rubbing the hair with a towel,
  • forgetting about the scalp.
The consequences of poor hair care include symptoms such as:
  • itching,
  • dandruff,
  • oily scalp,
  • dry scalp.

However, it turns out that the fight against these persistent ailments is quite simple and, most importantly, you can deal with them yourself, in the comfort of your own bathroom. What should be the first step? First of all, you should limit your skin's contact with highly aggressive products, especially chemical ones at all cost.

How to wash your hair with the CWC method?
How to wash your hair with the CWC method?

CWC - the acronym for the words condition, wash, condition - is a revolutionary way of washing hair, which has recently become very popular. However, it is sometimes said it isn't a universal hair-washing method for everyone. Therefore, the best solution is to test it yourself for some time and check if it works for you. If you notice results in the form of moisturizing, nourishing, smoothing and overall improvement in the condition of your hair, it means that this is the ideal method for you.
How to wash your hair with the CWC method? First, a conditioner, preferably a moisturizing one, should be applied to thoroughly wet hair. The purpose of applying conditioner first is to protect our hair from harmful substances that shampoos contain. Leave the conditioner on the hair for a few minutes and then wash it with shampoo. What is important at this stage? We should focus on washing the scalp, and what goes down with the foam will be enough to wash the rest of the hair. Of course, as with the standard method, we do the washing twice. The next step is to apply the conditioner again, which - after the time specified by the manufacturer - should be rinsed with warm water.
CWC hair washing is especially recommended for dry, damaged, colour-treated hair that lacks shine. This type of care will also work well for hair that is frequently exposed to harmful factors, such as high drying temperatures, frequent hot styling or colouring.

How to wash hair extensions?

Hair extensions require special care. The first basic rule is that hair should not be washed for the first 48 hours after attaching the extensions. This is to ensure better durability. Washing sequences are best done twice a week. Why not every day? Hair extensions keep their freshness longer, so it's not necessary.
So how to wash hair extensions so that they don't get damaged or tangled? Regardless of whether the hair is extended with the use of a ring, or if it was a tape-in or keratin method, they require a special approach. As an example, let's use the tape-in method - how to wash your tape-in hair? First of all, they should be carefully brushed. A wooden comb or special brushes for hair extensions made of natural bristles available on the market will be perfect for this.
It is best to wash extensions in a standing position, so that the water runs down vertically, which means it will ideally be done in the shower. Apply the shampoo so as to effectively cleanse the scalp. The excess should go down freely, washing the rest of the hair. The whole procedure is done very gently, trying not to rub the hair, especially in the areas where extensions are attached. After washing, apply a special conditioner, oil or balm, dedicated to hair extensions. Cosmetics for hair extensions have specially developed compositions, thanks to which hair care is most effective.
Remember that hair extensions should always be washed with warm water, never hot! In addition, don't wrap your hair in a towel. Just drain it of excess water with a cotton cloth. What's more, do not brush your wet hair. First, it should be thoroughly dried. An ionizing, warm-blowing dryer will be the best for this. After drying, brush the hair thoroughly.

How often wash hair
How often should you wash your hair?

The basic rule of thumb when it comes to the frequency of washing hair is to wash it as often as it needs it. However, this doesn't mean that if your hair still looks good, you should wash it once a week or less. Keep in mind that both dirt and dust are deposited on the hair. Washing hair is therefore not only a matter of care but also hygiene.
How often should you wash your hair to keep it healthy, not greasy or too dry? It depends on the person. If your hair needs daily washing, choose special, mild shampoos. The amount of shampoo matters - you shouldn't use too much of it as it is difficult to rinse the foam from your head afterwards. How to wash your hair with a small amount of shampoo? It is a good idea to use special foaming cups. Using them is very simple. Just put a few drops of shampoo in a cup, add water and lather.
It is believed that the optimal solution is washing your hair two to three times a week. However, it is best to adjust the frequency of washing to the individual preferences and needs of our hair and scalp.
