5 best home hair care methods

The condition of our hair is a reflection of the condition of our whole body. Many factors may contribute to the poor condition of the hair: stress, hormonal imbalance, too intensive hair care or unsuitable cosmetics. If your problem is weak and damaged hair you do not have to spend a fortune on expensive treatments. Here are some tips on how to take care of your scalp and hair using products, which can be found in almost every household.

Home hair care methods

Beautiful hair is an attribute of every woman. Shiny, healthy and strong hair can add a lot of beauty to us, however, to achieve this effect, we need to know how to take care of it properly.

Our mothers and grandmothers knew the natural ways to take care of their hair and despite the fact that there were not so many cosmetics available, they knew how to take care of their beauty. Today, when cosmetic overload turns out not to be effective, it is good to return to these traditional methods and reap their benefits.

Well-groomed hair is a true calling card, but looking at the streets, it turns out that a lot of women do not know how to take care of their hair properly. They buy synthetic products just because they are widely advertised, and as a result, they do not get any benefits. Again, they buy more cosmetic products and these further worsen the condition of their hair. This vicious cycle can be broken through natural products.

5 Natural Ways to Care for Your Hair - home hair care tips

Oils

The first step in taking care of your hair is to use hair oil. Colouring, shampooing, wind and lack of protection are the most common causes for dry hair and hair breakage. Hair deprived of the lipid mantle becomes brittle, frizzy and static more quickly.

To prevent this from happening you should apply oil to your hair once or twice a week before shampooing. The choice of oils is almost endless, ranging from the most common rapeseed oil to linseed, castor, sunflower or macadamia oil. Add a spoon or two of oil onto dry or damp hair, massaging this in and leave for an hour. After this time, wash twice with a mild shampoo. Several weeks later of such treatment you will notice shinier and stronger hair.

Homemade hair treatments are not only inexpensive but also extremely effective due to the large amount of condensed substances we use. Home hair care is a replacement for those, who do not want to buy more ineffective cosmetics.

Scalp rubs

In stores you can buy many types of rubs for use on the scalp. Rubs include aloe vera juice, birch water (birch sap), nettle water, etc. However, most of them are created on the basis of drying alcohol and preservatives, which can irritate the sensitive scalp. In order to eliminate this adverse effect and at the same time to strengthen the roots, it is good to create your own rub. Simply dilute natural aloe vera juice in water or make an infusion of fresh nettle and rub it into your scalp three times a week.

Natural Conditioners

The natural conditioners and masks sold in stores often have the opposite effect to that intended. Instead of smoothing, they frizz, and instead of strengthening, they dry out. They are also overloaded with preservatives, dyes and detergents, which may be irritating to the scalp. Natural hair conditioner is the perfect way to have beautiful hair, so If a conditioner does not work for you, you can replace it with a natural one, made by mixing castor oil, lemon juice and egg yolk. Long hair will need a conditioner made from two egg yolks, one tablespoon of castor oil and 1/4 lemon juice. However, this conditioner should not be used on hair that has been bleached, permed or straightened as it may cause the hair to become overloaded with protein.

Gentle Washing

Damaged hair needs to be gently washed. The shampoos available in stores contain strong detergents such as SLES or SLS. If you want to quickly improve the quality of your hair, you can start by washing your hair with a conditioner. The conditioner will wash your hair but will not dry it out excessively and will not make it brittle.

Diet

Many people think that taking care of their hair is all about external treatments. In fact, the condition of hair depends primarily on what we eat. If our diet is poor in nutrients and vitamins, it is not possible for our scalp to grow healthy and strong hair.

No hair care can replace proper nutrition, based on plenty of vegetables, fruits and fresh juices. In times when we do not have access to them, deficiencies can be effectively compensated by taking dietary supplements.

Natural care is the way to healthy and beautiful hair. No cosmetics can replace nature and oils, a rich diet and natural conditioners have the ability to incredibly regenerate our hair at very little cost.

Treasures hidden in an egg

There are plenty of nutrients in eggs that can be a lifesaver for colour-treated, bleached hair and hair dried out by hairdryers or straighteners. The enzymes in raw egg are a great way to fight oily hair. The yolk is rich in fat and contains iron, phosphorus, vitamin A, B vitamins, folic acid, and vitamin E and beta-carotene, which are oxidizers. The protein makes an excellent moisturiser.

How to use egg depends on our hair type. People with normal hair can use a whole egg for hair care. For dry and brittle hair the yolk is very good, which is rubbed into the hair and left for 20-30 minutes. To the egg can be added 2 tablespoons of castor oil, a little cosmetic kerosene or lemon juice. Then the mask should be washed off the head with cool water, and then the hair washed with a light shampoo.  The treatment should be applied once (when using egg yolk alone) or twice a month (when using egg white alone).

Lemon juice for dandruff

An excellent way to fight dandruff is with olive oil and lemon juice. Dandruff, which is a condition caused by poor diet, stress or climate change, is exfoliating keratinised skin. The keratinisation process may be accompanied by seborrhea.

Rinsing hair with lemon juice is a method known for years. In the past, hair was washed with grey soap, which is characterised by an alkaline reaction, unfavourable for our skin.

Lemon and vinegar rinse changes the pH of hair to acidic, which is characteristic for a healthy scalp. Lemon, moreover, washes away dandruff flakes from the scalp and makes hair soft and very shiny. In addition, lemon juice lightens hair and rinses out colour (e.g. too strong hair dye).

To prepare this home remedy, squeeze a lemon and add to olive oil and water. Lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and some water should be mixed thoroughly and massaged into the previously washed scalp. After 25 minutes, the mask should be washed off with shampoo.
